The Honours course has been introduced in the year 2013 considering the demand for such course.

<span style="font-family: "times new roman", times; font-size: large;"> The department maintains its own library with support from the central library of the college, where the students can access a large collection of books. The department has three laboratories possessing necessary chemicals, glassware, and basic instruments required to perform experiments in physical, inorganic, organic and analytical chemistry. Facility of audio-visual presentation provide a better perception of the topic to the students.

<span style="font-family: "times new roman", times; font-size: large;">At present, there are six faculties in the department, who are sincerely engaged in teaching and research in frontier areas of Chemical Science. The faculty members of the department have significantly contributed to scientific world through research publications in reputed forums. Project proposal from the faculties has resulted research grants from different funding agencies. Acquisition of UGC research grant has enabled the department of Chemistry to own one double – beam UV-VIS spectrophotometer, a very important tool for molecular characterization. With the support from Science and Engineering Research Board (SERB), the department has also set up a Computational Chemistry laboratory, which possesses a high – end (32 core) work – station and is likely to be augmented with online UPS and similar computational facilities.

<span style="font-family: "times new roman", times; font-size: large;">The students are regularly monitored and evaluated through class tests, seminars and assignments. Workshops, symposia, and industry-visit are occasionally organized to enhance the practical knowledge of students.
