ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT

The department is one of the oldest departments of the Bangabasi Morning College, runs since inception of the college in 1965 with good number of students. The department offers a three-year general course under both the Choice Based Credit System (CBCS) and the National Education Policy (NEP). The department is well equipped with instruments, specimens and other resources. College authority has taken positive initiative for opening four years Honours research course (under NEP) to met the continuous demand.
Other than class room teaching (theory and practical), the department regularly organize &nbsp;academic activities such as student seminar, project assignments, fieldwork, ethnographic film show, museum visit etc., to enhance student&rsquo;s academic knowledge and presentation skills. Faculty members not only participate in seminars and conferences organized by various academic institutions with a view to keep them academically updated but also contribute in research and publication in scientific journals. Faculties use information and communication technology (ICT) for class room teaching, as per requirement. Students have access to learning materials through the college library and directly from faculty members. Furthermore, the department organize alumni meet in collaboration with other Bio-Science departments to provide them interactional opportunity with current students and alumni.
