The Department of History of Bangabasi Morning College&nbsp;was an integral part of the College from its very inception. In the&nbsp;beginning History was taught as a part of the B.A General course. However, the Department of History as a distinct entity made its beginning in 2013 when B.A (Honours) was introduced. The department&rsquo;s major focus is on enhancing an understanding of Indian History along with the history of Europe, America, China, Japan etc. Thematically speaking, the primary focus is placed on economic, social, political and cultural history, ranging from gender to science, technology, medicine and environmental studies. The broad themes enable students to gain an understanding of elements of changes and continuity over time and space. It enhances their critical aptitude and therefore helps them make more reasoned logical arguments or analysis. History teaching here goes beyond the classroom- in the form of various educational trips. At the same time, the department endeavors to develop students&rsquo; ability to think historically by engaging students in the critical study of the past. Keeping pace with the current trend we encourage our students to read books and surf the web, write projects and to make power points as well. Students graduating from this department regularly secure admission for Post Graduate studies in various Universities and other corporate jobs. The present faculty endeavors to take the department to greater heights.
